Rev. Dr. Alexander McDonald III
Rev. Dr. Alexander McDonald III is the pastor of the Second Baptist Church, 72 Carroll Street, Paterson, New Jersey, where he has served since November 1, 1985.
He is an honor graduate of Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina, where he received his BS Degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting). He is also a 2001 graduate of New York Theological Seminary, Manhattan, NY, where he received his Master of Divinity Degree. (He was the keynote speaker during the graduation ceremony on behalf of the NYTS student body). In May of 2006, he earned a three year Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Congregational Studies and Community Development from Drew University, Madison, NJ.
He is the husband to his childhood sweetheart, Jacqueline Boyd McDonald since July of 1980. They are the proud parents of three: Alexander IV (2006 graduate of Norfolk State University), Tiffany Nicole (2010 graduate of Caldwell College) and Stephanie Renee (2008 graduate of UNC – Charlotte). He was employed with Westinghouse Elevator Company for 13 years as a financial analyst and Marketing Sales Engineer.
Pastor McDonald is an energetic man who leads by example, working shoulder to shoulder with his parishioners. He prides himself as a hands-on people and community oriented pastor, always going that extra mile to ensure the success, joy and happiness of others.
He has received countless awards, honors and citations. He is the former president of the Paterson Pastor’s Workshop, (leading in its incorporation status); former executive board member of the United Way of Passaic; and a former Board member of the Morris County Girl Scouts. While at Livingstone College, he was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student. He has also served as a Development Associate for New York Theological Seminary.
